The questions we hear most often before treatment.

Drawing on 13 years of clinical experience with skin care in Gangnam, we do not hand out a standard prescription. The doctor examines your skin condition, thickness and sensitivity on the day and recommends the peel that fits you one-to-one.

Where ordinary peels work by stripping keratin away, Lara Peel lets the active ingredients sink in to dissolve keratin gently while adding moisture and nutrition at the same time. There is almost no swelling or stinging, so sensitive skin can have it with confidence.

It uses PHA, which is highly moisturising without irritating the skin. There is no redness or flaking afterwards; the tone brightens immediately and make-up sits beautifully on the smooth, hydrated finish, which is why it is popular as wedding care.

All four peel programmes are safe treatments with almost no downtime; washing, make-up and normal daily life are all fine straight after the session.

Aquapeel, Lara Peel and Multox Peel do not cause visible flaking. With Black Peel, which is for acne, fine flaking can appear two or three days later depending on the skin — a natural part of renewal.

It varies with your skin and the type of peel, but to restore a healthy turnover cycle and keep the best texture, we usually recommend coming steadily at one- to two-week intervals.

Apply plenty of moisturiser
Apply plenty of moisturiserSkin can feel drier than usual after a peel. Apply moisturising or repair cream generously morning and night so new skin comes through healthily.
Strict sun protection
Strict sun protectionSkin is very vulnerable to UV right after old keratin comes away. Always apply SPF 50 or higher carefully when going out, to prevent pigmentation.
Pause functional cosmetics
Pause functional cosmeticsFor about a week, avoid products containing retinol (vitamin A), high-strength vitamin C or AHA/BHA, and use mild, moisturising products instead.
No manual exfoliation
No manual exfoliationUsing an exfoliating cloth, a scrub or an at-home peeling gel — anything that irritates the skin physically — must be avoided for at least one to two weeks.
Avoid saunas and hot baths
Avoid saunas and hot bathsA rise in skin temperature can trigger inflammation or redness, so avoid saunas, jjimjilbang and intense exercise for about a week.
Do not pick at scabs or flakes
Do not pick at scabs or flakesIf fine flaking or a thin scab appears after Black Peel or similar, do not pull at it with your hands; let it come away naturally while washing, and no mark will be left.
