Virtue RF Eye Lifting for Droopy Eyelids Without Surgery

For eyelid heaviness that does not yet call for surgery, here is how microneedling RF with Virtue RF around the eyes is approached.

Many people notice that their eyelids feel heavier in the mirror, or that a double-eyelid crease looks thinner than it used to. Deciding on upper blepharoplasty right away is another matter, though: there is the worry that the whole expression will change, and the downtime is hard to plan around. Sitting between those two positions is an option worth understanding, applying a radiofrequency device to the eye area, known as Virtue RF upper-eyelid lifting, or "VirtueEye".

What kind of device is Virtue RF

Virtue RF is an FDA-cleared microneedling radiofrequency lifting device. Fine needles deliver RF energy into the dermis to stimulate new collagen and elastin, and that mechanism itself is not very different from other needle-based RF systems.

The difference lies in where it can be used. Until recently there were few devices suited to skin as thin and sensitive as the eyelid, so concerns such as a flattening double-eyelid crease, eyelids that have become uneven, a sleepy-looking eye shape, or fine lines around the eyes had little to turn to other than surgery. VirtueEye opens that area to a non-surgical approach, and is used to manage eyelid drooping early or to slow its progression.

How it compares with surgery

Upper blepharoplasty removes excess skin, so the degree of change is larger, but by the same token the direction of that change is hard to reverse and recovery time is required. VirtueEye, by contrast, works without incisions by encouraging the tissue to regain firmness, so the change tends to appear gradually and subtly. We generally suggest it first to those who want change that does not announce itself, and to those whose condition does not yet appear to warrant surgery. Depending on the degree of drooping, surgical correction may of course be the better fit, so which route suits you is something to determine through consultation first.

How the procedure runs at SKINIQUE Clinic

image

SKINIQUE Clinic took an interest in the eyelid application of Virtue RF from the time the device first arrived in Korea and has performed it since. The energy levels, needle depths and treatment patterns accumulated over that period inform a plan built around each person's eye condition.

The sequence runs as follows. Once consultation leads to treatment, numbing cream is applied around the eyes first. Discomfort during the procedure is, for most people, at a manageable level.

Immediately before treatment, the single-use eye tip is unsealed in front of the patient so it can be checked directly.

Treatment then covers not only the eyelid but the brow area and forehead as well, following the muscles involved in opening the eye, with energy delivered closely along the tissue that has loosened. Working with the balance of the whole eye area in view, rather than tightening one spot, is what makes the result look natural.

Some change may be noticeable after a single session, but collagen renewal needs to accumulate for the result to hold, so a course of five or more sessions is usually recommended. How quickly and how strongly the skin responds varies from person to person.

What to check when choosing a clinic

VirtueEye is not a treatment that ends once a set number of shots has been used. Understanding the delicate anatomy around the eye, and adjusting intensity and depth by area, is where the operator's experience shapes the outcome. So rather than looking only at whether a clinic owns the device, we suggest choosing based on whether the medical team has enough experience treating the eye area, and whether they explain the possible side effects and the limits of the treatment fully. Detailed pricing is available on the price guide.

Wrapping Up

Virtue RF VirtueEye is a non-surgical option for eyelid drooping at a stage where surgery feels like too much, and how natural the result looks depends on how the treatment is planned. If you would like to know whether your eyes are at a stage that can be managed with this treatment, feel free to ask through a chat consultation about the right approach for your eyes.
