Many people notice that their eyelids feel heavier in the mirror, or that a double-eyelid crease looks thinner than it used to. What kind of device is Virtue RF
Virtue RF is an FDA-cleared microneedling radiofrequency lifting device. Fine needles deliver RF energy into the dermis to stimulate new collagen and elastin, and that mechanism itself is not very different from other needle-based RF systems.
The difference lies in where it can be used. Until recently there were few devices suited to skin as thin and sensitive as the eyelid, so concerns such as a flattening double-eyelid crease, eyelids that have become uneven, a sleepy-looking eye shape, or fine lines around the eyes had little to turn to other than surgery. VirtueEye opens that area to a non-surgical approach, and is used to manage eyelid drooping early or to slow its progression.
How it compares with surgery
Upper blepharoplasty removes excess skin, so the degree of change is larger, but by the same token the direction of that change is hard to reverse and recovery time is required. VirtueEye, by contrast, works without incisions by encouraging the tissue to regain firmness, so the change tends to appear gradually and subtly. We generally suggest it first to those who want change that does not announce itself, and to those whose condition does not yet appear to warrant surgery. Depending on the degree of drooping, surgical correction may of course be the better fit, so which route suits you is something to determine through consultation first.
